"Educators tell us that art encourages fine motor skills, neural development, and problem-solving abilities and that it can be used effectively to teach and understand other key subjects such as reading, writing, math, and science. Therapists tell us that art is valuable because it allows children to process their world, to deal with sometimes scary emotions in a safe way, and because it gives them critical sensory input. Artists tell us that art is important for its own sake—as a source of beauty and expression, as well as simply for the process of creating. Kids tell us that art is fun, an activity they enjoy. Parents tell us that art is vital to their families because it keeps everyone engaged and happy and helps with the sometimes difficult transitions of the day." (from the Artful parent if you want to read more why art is beneficial for kids)
This week we had a competition on our new Facebook group. Paint on anything in your home...just not a rock, using the theme Spring as an inspiration.
The winner has just been announced by our resident artist, Laura. Read her message below.
Our paint pens can literally colour the world.
Nothing in your house is safe when Life of Colour is about.
Your kitchen jars, kids book covers, stationary boxes, old clothes and shoes, wooden tables, ceramic mugs, post box, front door signs....it goes on...everything can be coloured!
Here we will show you a few examples of some of the fun stuff we have coloured over the past few weeks. Some of these are from customers who sent us pictures to show off their work.
Many of you have seen our incredible (and now famous) brand ambassador, lettering artist and master blender Karen all over our Facebook and Instagram. Karen and her lettering and brush pens friends always talk about "blending" and how they love how Life of Colour's Watercolour pens blend. If you are a beginner and have no idea how to blend, or have never used brush pens before, then this tutorial is for you.
Are you one of the people who makes their own cards or buys them from a newsagent? Personally I would rather spend more on the gift and less on the card, so I fall into the former category. With my Life of Colour Pens and stencils I feel like I can make all my own cards with confidence and pride. Nothing is more special and personal than giving a loved one a card that you took your time and effort to make.
In this tutorial I will show you how to make a beautiful safari greeting card using all of our products.
