Hi, I'm Jodi, Founder of Life of Colour.

Life of Colour began in 2017 during maternity leave with my second daughter. We had recently moved from South Africa to Australia, I was navigating life with two young children, and I found myself questioning what came next. I had been working in marketing, but after becoming a mum, I found myself craving something different. Something creative. Something meaningful. Something that felt like me.

During a conversation with a career coach, she asked me what I wanted my life to look like. My answer came out before I even had time to think about it.

"I just want a life of colour."

That simple sentence became the name of our business and the beginning of a journey that would completely change our lives.

Creativity had always been part of who I was. As a child, I loved art, making things and getting lost in creative projects. But like so many adults, life got busy and creativity slowly disappeared into the background. Then one day, while doing arts and crafts with my daughters, I was reminded of how much joy, calm and connection creativity can bring. I wanted to create products that made those moments easier for other people to experience too.

What started with a small range of watercolour brush pens quickly began to grow. In those early years I packed orders from home, answered customer emails late at night and learned everything I could about building a business. Before long, it became clear that Life of Colour was turning into something much bigger than I had ever imagined.

That's when my husband Richard made a leap of faith and joined the business full time. Together, we transformed Life of Colour from a small passion project into the family business it is today. Richard leads the business side of Life of Colour while I focus on creativity, product development and community. Between us, we've built a business that reflects both our strengths and our shared belief that creativity has the power to make people happier, calmer and more connected.

As the business grew, something interesting happened. We realised we weren't really in the business of selling art supplies. We were helping people reconnect with a part of themselves they thought they had lost.

Over the years, we heard the same story again and again from our customers. "I'm not creative." "I haven't done art since school." "I don't know where to start."

We knew that wasn't true.

So Life of Colour evolved from selling art supplies into creating complete art experiences designed to make creativity feel easy, accessible and enjoyable. By combining beautifully designed surfaces, perfectly matched paint pens, colour guides, inspiration and tutorials, we removed the overwhelm and made it easier for people to create something they could be proud of. Our mission became helping people discover that creativity isn't something reserved for artists. It's something that belongs to all of us.

Today, Life of Colour is still a family business, but it has become so much more than that. It has grown into a global community of creators who inspire us every single day. Our community has always been at the heart of everything we do. We are a community-led brand in every sense of the word. We listen closely to what our creators love, what they want to create, and what inspires them. Many of our products, collections and ideas have been shaped directly by conversations with our community, and their creativity continually inspires our own.

The thing I am most proud of isn't a product, a milestone or a sales figure. It's seeing people who once believed they weren't creative proudly sharing their artwork, creating with their children and grandchildren, finding moments of mindfulness, and rediscovering the joy of making something with their own hands.

Life of Colour started as a search for more creativity and purpose in my own life. Today, it's a place where hundreds of thousands of people around the world come to find a little more colour in theirs.
